Kai Kloepfer is a 17-year-old with an incredible idea that might save a ton of lives.
He invented a device that uses fingerprint sensors to keep a gun from being fired by anyone other than an authorized user!
The whole idea is to stop the pointless deaths of children and teens that have accidentally been killed or injured by guns.

“Since 1979, two and a half times as many children and teens have been killed with firearms as the total number of US military casualties in the Iraq, Vietnam and Afghanistan wars combined. That’s a statistic that we could fix.”
So Kai entered his design into the 2013 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. He came in 34th out of 7 million so that’s pretty good we guess. LOLz!
Now the teen has gotten a lucky break, Smart Tech Challenges Foundation has awarded him $50,000 to turn his design into a reality! Best part about his design is it’s so easy to use, people might actually buy it!

“All you have to do is pick the firearm up and the way you naturally rest your hand on the firearm unlocks it. So you don’t have to swipe or anything like that.”
Wow! That’s seriously impressive.
We predict great things in this teen’s future.
Way to try and save some lives, Kai!!
