On the same day that President Barack Obama announced that his administration will move on multiple fronts to save lives by encouraging the development of “smart gun” technology, the New York Business Plan Competition awarded its top prize of $100,000 to two students at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute who have come up with what appears to be the smartest technology yet to protect the families of gun owners from accidental gun deaths and injuries as well as gun-related suicides.
