Earlier this month, The New York Times’ Timothy Egan wrote an op-ed called Moms and Guns, in which he asserted that moms should speak up and take responsibility for the actions of their children. We believe that every gun owner should take responsibility for the security of their firearms, and that gun owners deserve more options for securely and safely storing their firearms in a way that still grants them quick and easy access when they need to use their weapons.
It passed with little notice when an 11-year-old boy shot and killed an 8-year-old girl a few days ago in Tennessee — shot her because she wouldn’t show him her puppy. The boy used his family’s 12-gauge shotgun to kill the second-grader.
